Case Study; in 2000 we were asked to design a drawing management software program for a company that designed windows and doors for yachts. The company President needed a software solution that would organize and manage each drawing package. The software was required to provide a method to quickly modify the drawing package so that client requested changes could be implemented in the drawings, and a new cost estimate could be made in minutes.
During the software development we identified that additional features could be added to enhance the softwares capabilities.
Added features:
The drawing package could be duplicated so that the company could have several versions of the windows and doors with unique fit form and finishes that were already developed and costed.
A digital image of detail drawings could be included with each drawing to allow the production team to access drawings on the production floor.
Material waste was not addressed during the production process, so we suggested that a kitting element could be used in conjunction with the product build that would better utilize the production inventory and reduce material waste.
The software provided a low cost solution where the entire company could utilize the drawing management system in each department. The sales team could now use the drawings in the field on laptops to work with the Yacht builders to do on site quotes, and improved product marketing.

The advance in technology with mobile computing and cloud computing has taken the drawing package to new levels of capabilities. The iTunes application is the "Lite" version of the software program for mobile applications. It is a very low cost solution with major benefits for engineering and marketing team members. It allows the user to have the entire companies drawing library in a mobile device. It will offer the marketing the ability to quickly quote cost where changes in the product design is required. Engineering team members can work with drawings in the field and manage the production without the need to carry paper copies of the drawings.

The Lite Version features:
The Project Drawing Pro Database may be used with the iPad or iPhone to offer the mobile drawings package to be used anywhere. It does not require an internet connection to be used in the field.
The app has the ability to export or print screen data and images as required. With the new IOS version you can dictate by using the keyboard dictation capability into text fields. You can use the advanced database search capability to quickly find required information.
